said it's not about how smart you are it's about how hard you're working and how much progress and growth you're making so not smart so as we are recognizing all the students up here for a reason please and always is not that that person these people are smarter it means they're working hard if you could be the smartest student in third grade but if you don't work for the teacher if you do do the work if you don't follow directions and you're not going to be able to earn those gray so we don't want to talk too much about far we want to talk about working hard do I have had a great experience this week because I was able to follow up you up for Imagine math prizes raise your hand if you were able to come up and get an imagine Math Prize that is awesome you are worth hard doing exactly what we wanted to do and your teachers want me to do the big display on the on the wall in the cafeteria Miss Lanie work really hard on that soon. can show how much growth your baby each student is going to get a rocket you will be able to put your name on that rocket and want you get enough lessons past and you going to be able to put your walking on the every time you pass Five Lessons you getting into dinner you get to come up to the office to get it in the city if you passed ten lessons you'll get to intend to do this I believe not remember you all you have class competition to the classic earns the most that has the most lessons will get like ice cream treat your class got it this is it today also also, if your class has the most you will get to be able to get ice cream but do you get ice cream for just being in the class next month you have to pay but at least six lesson three lessons each month in order to be a part of the class ride but I also wanted to talk to you about some goals or about some scores the whole School 3rd grade has the highest problem pass rate of any grade in the school on imagine math give yourself a round of applause is that you are taking your time to work out the problem you're not just guessing at her that you are actually trying to do your best on the river at the beginning I only have two rules directions you mad listen to follow directions and do your best and when you do those things good reward to get good results stuff about overall usage I mean how much you doing it for the fifth grade top three students are from those gray left the top ones are using it the most they're all for that it right so maybe next time we can see a third grade in there nothing I want to talk to you about I don't think I told you this when we were talking about imagine math earlier if you also can earn points after you probably do she probably seen the polls right now been talkin about lessons Pad but you can also earn points for the amount of time your own there's no real problem to get Craig November 11th will it be today for striper name is Elizabeth Road she is already past 24 lessons and earned 20000 points will depart I haven't told you there are Charities that you can donate your points. a charity is a organization that does good for others she donated 10000 point to a anti-bullying program and you're thinking what are what am I imagine math points going to how's that going to help a cherry well there are companies that will actually give that charity money based on the number of points that we gave them so Elizabeth donated $10,000 boy equal $1,900 that was donated to that company car to that chair for organization that is a lot of money and she didn't have to give the money all she had to do was to the work so it was good for her because she's learning she's making progress she's passing lessons and get prizes for me and she's also doing good for something else that is it that is like a service project that you could participate in it that's where you are helping others that is something that is great around the world is that we can create that sin and actually give to others or give back so as you are working on your imagine math you not only could be helping yourself but you could be helping other people as well don't forget that that is also a possibility and something that you can do it now also we have the program Imagine Learning in language I want to tell you that I am proud of you as a school I don't have this broken down into grade level yet our school the average number of hours that you are working on it is higher than the district we averaged 5.7 hours the district is only 4.8 so give yourself another round of applause tonight but not only are you sitting on it but you also once again making sure that you do well I pass rate is 76% the district pass rate is only 71 so I pass rate is higher than the district so that job on the top three units in the hours you that they're on their using it and the top the number of lessons past are all 15 units right now all fifth graders that means you're going to have to work a little bit harder if you want to be one of the top three for imagine language in learning Wednesday I'm looking down now at grade level and lesson compete completed third grade and second place with that y'all have done 11.2 V brakes done 14.2 you done more than portray not quite up to 5th grade yet lesson path then for Greg and Patrick it's also a little bit less in 4th and 5th grade but we can change that growth mindset working hard is his most important thing we do I appreciate you we all Kings Road we want you working hard so that your teachers around up at your parents are proud of you and that you're proud of yourself we want you to be ready for that we won't be ready for fourth grade going to be ready for those who want you to be successful and as long as you are working hard we know that you're going to be successful and I do want to also talk to you about something else this is the first year Jack Stevenson never did give you laptops the Chromebook Chromebook are a great tool if we use them the right way your teachers are assigning things to you to do on the Chromebook you know if you don't bring it back to school you're not going to be able to do it if you bring it back to school in this not charge you still not going to be able to use it to make sure that you are taking your computer home and bring it back to school and it is charged when you come to school so that where the teacher has an assignment for you to do on it if you'll get your red just like having your pencil and paper and your computer needs to be ready as well as the other thing I'll talk to you about it being responsible now there are there is a the district has Insurance on your laptop so that means if you have an active did they pay for it but what I want no it's even if I think it's an accident your teacher thinks is not good to Miss Jones say when it gets sent off to the company to be fixed if they don't think it's an accident then your parents are going to have to pay for it to be fixed or replaced our computers or not either $325 and how much it will cost to replace your computer right now we don't want you to have to replace your computer so when you put it in your book bag or when you're carrying around the school please be careful with it don't throw your book bag around don't let other people throwing around definitely don't leave your laptop on the floor or in the hallway because if somebody comes along and stepped on it it's going to break it the first time if it doesn't cost anything to be fixed but even if the second time is an accident it's going to be $25 now I can tell you as a parent I don't want to have to pay $25 to get a computer fixed do you want to buy $25 Christmas is coming up you know if your parents have to pay $25 that might come out of somebody's Christmas so we want to be very careful with the lead we're taking care of it we do not have to happen that's why you get one free time if they're if they're broke so be sure you taking care of note drinks around in that Hall don't leave it on the floor at home don't leave it on the floor here. Don't leave them unattended either baby don't leave me alone may be sure that there with you I am extremely proud of your behavior in here you have had excellent Behavior you've been very attentive and very quiet and followed the picture of recognizing after you to set the right time and in the right way so I do commend you on that very proud of you for your behavior I'm very proud of you that have worked hard and earned the principal's list and honor roll and all of you they're working hard toward your imagine math Imagine Learning second nine weeks is going to be harder than the first time we pictures of time to get you ready and getting you back into it and transitioning time to reviewing some of the stuff this time we are going to have more new stuff they're going to be pushing you do a little bit faster and make lots of games I know you can do it I have confidence in you I believe me pictures of anything else that we might need to address at this time justdustin clear a program please keep your toe portable round revolt stay seated until your class
